How to Create and Manage Payment Links

Payment links allow you to collect payments from anyone, anywhere, without needing an invoice. You can share these links via email, social media, or messaging apps.

1. Prerequisites

Before you can create a payment link, you must have at least one active payment integration (such as Stripe or Paystack) configured in your business settings. If no integration is found, Cordlo will prompt you to set one up in the Integrations section first.

2. Navigating to Payment Links

  • Log in to your Cordlo account.

  • Select the Business you want to manage.

  • From the sidebar menu, click on Payment Links.

3. How to Create a New Payment Link

  1. Click the Add Payment Link button at the top right.

  2. In the Create Payment Link dialog, configure the following:

    • Fixed Amount Toggle: Check “I want a fixed payment amount on this link” if you want to set a specific price. If unchecked, the customer can enter their own amount.

    • Name (Required): Enter a name for the link (e.g., “Consultation Fee”).

    • Amount: Enter the set value (only if “Fixed Amount” is enabled).

    • Currency (Required): Select your preferred currency from your business’s supported list.

    • Integration (Required): Select the payment gateway(s) you wish to use for this link.

  3. Advanced Settings:

    • Expiration: Set an optional Expiration Date and Time after which the link will no longer work.

    • Description: Add details about what the payment is for.

  4. Additional Options:

    • Activate payment link: Ensure this is checked to make the link live immediately.

    • Send payment receipt: Automatically email a receipt to the customer after a successful transaction.

    • Allow multiple payment: Check this if the link is for multiple customers or recurring use.

    • Create customer on payment: If checked, Cordlo will automatically add the payer to your Customers list upon successful payment.

  5. Click Create Payment Link to generate the URL.

4. How to Manage Existing Payment Links

Once created, your links are displayed in a table where you can track their status and performance.

Copying a Link

To share a link with a customer:

  • Click the Copy icon next to the link in the table.

  • Alternatively, click the Action menu (three dots) and select Copy Payment Link.

Editing a Link

  1. Locate the link in the table and click the Action menu.

  2. Select Edit.

  3. Modify the name, description, or settings.

    • Note: If the link is connected to a specific invoice, certain fields like currency or expiration may be disabled to maintain data integrity.

  4. Click Update Payment Link.

Deactivating or Deleting a Link

  • To Deactivate: Edit the link and uncheck the Activate payment link box. This preserves the link data but prevents further payments.

  • To Delete: Select Delete from the Action menu.

    • Caution: Deleting a link is permanent. If the link is connected to an invoice, you will receive a warning before confirmation.

5. Monitoring Link Status

The Payment Links table provides a quick overview of your links:

  • Amount: Displays “Fixed” (with the value), “Flexible” (customer chooses), or “Generated” (tied to an invoice).

  • Status: Shows Active (green) or Inactive (gray).

  • Gateways: Lists which integrations (e.g., Paystack) are handling the payments for that link.
