How to Create and Manage Customers

Managing your customer base effectively is essential for accurate invoicing and expense tracking. This guide covers how to add, import, edit, and delete customers within your business workspace.

1. Navigating to the Customers Page

To begin managing your customers:

  • Log in to your Cordlo account.

  • Select the specific Business you want to manage.

  • From the sidebar menu, click on Customers.

2. How to Create a New Customer

You can manually add customers one by one using the customer form:

  1. Click the Add Customer button at the top right of the page.

  2. In the Add New Customer dialog, provide the following information:

    • Name (Required): Enter the company name or individual’s name.

    • First Name & Last Name: Optional primary contact details.

    • Email & Phone Number: Contact information for communication and sending invoices.

    • Select Tags: Choose tags to categorize your customers for better organization.

    • Address: Physical or billing address of the customer.

  3. Set Customer Permissions:

    • Check Allow this customer to be added to Invoices and Estimates if they are a buyer (sales contact).

    • Check Allow this customer to be added to Expenses if they are a supplier (purchase contact).

  4. Click Add Customer to save the record.

3. How to Import Customers in Bulk

If you have a large list of customers, you can import them using a spreadsheet:

  1. Click the Import button (icon with an upward arrow) next to the “Add Customer” button.

  2. In the Import Customers dialog:

    • Download Template: Select your preferred format (CSV or Excel) and click Download to get the correct spreadsheet structure.

    • Prepare your data: Fill in your customer details into the downloaded template.

    • Upload File: Drag and drop your completed file or click the upload area to select it from your computer.

  3. Click Upload & Import to complete the process.

4. How to Edit a Customer

To update existing customer information:

  1. Locate the customer in the Customer Table.

  2. Click the Action button (typically represented by three dots) at the end of the customer’s row.

  3. Select Edit from the dropdown menu.

  4. Modify the necessary fields in the Edit Customer dialog and click Update Customer.

5. How to Delete Customers

To delete a single customer:

  1. In the customer list, find the customer you wish to remove.

  2. Click the Action menu and select Delete (highlighted in red).

  3. Confirm the action in the delete dialog. Note that this action is permanent and removes all associated data from the business.

To delete customers in bulk:

  1. Select multiple customers by clicking the checkboxes on the left side of the table.

  2. Click the Delete Selected bulk action button that appears.

  3. Confirm the deletion in the confirmation dialog.

6. Searching and Filtering

As your customer list grows, you can use these tools to find records quickly:

  • Search: Use the search bar to find customers by name or email.

  • Filter: Click the filter icon to narrow down your list based on specific criteria like tags or contact type.

  • Pagination: Use the page navigation at the bottom of the table to browse through different pages of your customer list.
